月下老人The Old Man under the Moon (Level 1) - Graded Readers for Chinese Language Learners (Folktales)

The story of "The Old Man Under the Moon" is about the old man of the moon, who is the matchmaker for the marriage of a young man. There was a young man who wanted to get married and start a family earlier, but the matchmaker introduced him many times without success. He was very agonized and did not know why. One day in the middle of the night, he met an old man. The old man said that marriage was predestined, and that only those who were tied together by a red thread at their feet could become husband and wife, and that his wife, who was now only 3 years old, would not marry him until 14 years later. The young man doesn't believe him and tries to kill the 3-year-old girl, but no matter how hard he tries, the truth is what the old man said.
