Clock Tower Xi'an
Nice old China pop up card to surprise someone with a city trip Xi'an. The anticipation is usually as much fun as the trip itself. Or as a nice reminder of a visit to this historic city
The Xi'an Clock Tower (pinyin: Xī'ān Zhōnglóu), built in 1384 during the early Ming Dynasty, is a symbol of the city of Xi'an and one of the largest of its kind in China. The bell tower also contains several large Tang Dynasty bells cast in bronze. The tower base is square and covers an area of 1,377 square meters. The tower is of brick and wood structure and nearly 40 m (130 ft) high. It is located in the center of Xi'an, at the intersection of the four streets of east, west, south and north. It is the largest and best preserved of the many bell towers remaining from ancient China.
